During the Festival we have a number of local musicians to play for your enjoyment and entertainment.
All performances will take place at "Shenstone"(Garden 1) commencing at 1.00pm, but in the event of inclemenent weather, some performances may be relocated to the Leura Golf Club (see Festival map)
Saturday 2nd October: The Blue Mountains Jazz Ensemble
The Blue Mountains Jazz Ensemble is a division of Blue Mountains Concert Band Inc. The Concert Band and its member groups encourage music performance by younger people in the Blue Mountains. This is their first appearance at the Leura Gardens Festival
Sunday 3rd October: The Orpheus Quartet
The Orpheus Quartet was formed in 1994 to provide the upper mountains with a series of concerts each year. These are organised by the Orpheus String Music Society of the Blue Mountains. They range in style from Baroque to Romantic and Contemporary, and offer an exciting and expansive musical experience. For more information phone 02 47824064
Monday 4th October: Woollongong Conservatorium Intermediate Flute Ensemble
This ensemble consists of students aged 12-16 who are currently at 5th -7th AMEB level. Their repertoire ranges from Baroque to Classical through to more jazzy and popular works.
Full of youthful enthusiasm, they may be contacted through the Conservatorium.
Tuesday 5th October: Silver Fox
Silver Fox comprises a group of four good friends who enjoy each other's company, and love singing to please others. Their barber shop style of singing has proved popular with Festival visitors for several years, and we welcome back them to this year's Festival. Silver Fox is available for engagements: 02 47352432
Wednesday 6th October: The Clegg Jazz Group 1pm Garden 1
The Clegg Group comprises David Clegg, piano and leader, Ray Martin string bass, and Geoff Douglas vibraphone and reeds,each of whom is a well known musician in his own right. They will offer a program of light and entertaining jazz. This is their third appearance at the Festival.
Thursday 7th October: Ritmo Andino Garden 1
Ritmo is a local musician, originally from Central Anerica, and plays flamenco, classic and latin guitar pieces. Phone 02 47514861
Friday 8th October: The Kevin Brown Jazz Quartet 1pm Garden 1
This quartet plays regularly in the Blue Mountains at cafes, restaurants and private functions. They play easy to listen to music, both Latin American and Jazz Phone 02 47824519
Saturday 9th October: The Spirit of Sydney Chorus
The Spirit of Sydney Chorus performed at the 2009 Festival for the first time, and we welcome their return this year. The group is made up of approximately thirty women who love to sing. Their repertoire includes two and three parts accompanied and unaccompanied music, such as a medley of Australian songs, pieces from popular musicals, traditional spirituals, evergreen favourites and an extensive range of Christmas music. Sunday 10th October: Blue Mountains Grammar String Group
The Blue Mountains Grammar School String Group has been part of our music programme for several years, and we welcome them back this year. They are in constant demand from community groups and individuals to provide music at oficial ceremonies, weddings and art gallery openings.
